The Feed Manufacturing Services Director is responsible for the operational efficiency, effectiveness and improvements across the manufacturing services function. This role will provide oversight of planning, organizing and directing of the manufacturing services team consisting of Automation & Innovation, Quality Assurance, Environmental Health & Safety, and Training. In this role, you will ensure the services function is utilizing the proper use and sequence of materials, tools, machinery, equipment and facilities to successfully support all manufacturing operations. This position partners closely with the Feed Manufacturing Director to ensure operational efficiency; maximizing processes, resources and technology to execute on business deliverables and align capabilities with business strategy.




  • Drive operational efficiency, effectiveness, and improvements
  • Work cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders including but not limited to Nutrify/Procurement, Nutrition, Finance, Transportation and Sales to address and solve production, quality, safety, training, and maintenance issues as they arise
  • Identify deficiencies in mechanical processes, develop recommended remedies and implement improvements
  • Recommends methods of improving team member efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities
  • Drive, oversee and determine appropriate continuous improvement projects for higher level efficiencies in business processes
  • Prepare documentation of critical analysis, provide suggestions for correcting errors and implement strategies
  • Analyze work force utilization, facility layout and operational data
  • Predict and capture opportunities in future markets, while managing risk and exposure
  • Provide oversight of manufacturing technologies, systems development and process controls
  • Investigate equipment failures or difficulties, diagnose operational risks, provide recommended treatments and drive to implementation  
  • Develops a comprehensive strategy for process improvements that are designed to ensure safety, increase efficiency, drive down cost, and improve quality
  • Responsible for operational performance improvement of key metrics; ensure alignment of metrics with overall department/strategic goals; organize resources to deliver on these metrics
  • Oversee the continuing review, revision, improvement and equipment of existing processes
  • Provide advice and assistance to manufacturing departments in connection with the solution to manufacturing difficulties
  • Ensure safety of the production facility by collaborating with internal and external resources to drive towards a zero-harm culture for accident or illness within the manufacturing function
  • Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement together with timely root cause analysis of non-conformances
  • Attend and participate in meetings, cascade essential information to team members, communicate key issues to leadership team
  • Provide leadership and mentor our team allowing development of strong leaders at all levels to ensure succession and capability for a more diverse workforce
  • Travel to Mill locations when appropriate and on a regular basis
  • Partner with Human Resources team to ensure fair and consistent administration of all policies, work rules and processes
  • Instill core values in manufacturing team members, live the core values personally

Typical Background



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial) with extensive experience in facilities and manufacturing


  • Preferred – Lean Certification
  • Preferred – Six Sigma Green Belt Certification

Years and Type of Experience:

  • Minimum of 8-10 years related experience
  • 5-7 years of experience in Supply Chain, Operations, Order Management and/or Customer Service
  • Knowledge of Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) Regulations
  • Ability to understand and follow Food Safety Standards – FSMA and SQF as well as all applicable Federal and State regulations
  • Management experience; leading and overseeing a team
