Wenger Feeds, LLC, is a regional poultry, swine, and dairy feed manufacturer serving the Mid-Atlantic region; a member of The Wenger Group, a comprehensive Agricultural Company offering Feed, Ingredients, Eggs and Egg Marketing, Flock Services, and Pullet Growing. Wenger Feeds' customers provide diary, eggs, poulty, and pork food products to the Mid-Atlantic region, an area that comprises nearly one fifth of the U.S. population. Wenger Feeds provides 'Quality Feed for Quality Food.'


The Feed Manufacturing Director is responsible for the oversight and management of all feed manufacturing operations and locations for Wenger Feeds, LLC. In this role, you will partner closely with the Feed Manufacturing Services Director to ensure operational efficiency; maximizing processes, resources and technology to execute on business deliverables and align capabilities with business strategy. Leading the Regional Operations Managers, you will be responsible for the production and manufacturing processes across Mills and engage the expanded team to execute on production plans while maintaining safety, quality, cost, delivery and core value objectives.




  • Accountable for overseeing execution and delivery of feed production commitments for the company
  • Evaluate operational risk and identify solutions to implement
  • Work cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders including but not limited to Nutrify/Procurement, Nutrition, Quality, Finance, Transportation and Sales. Collaborate effectively to understand, analyze and maintain operations; solve production and manifesting issues as they arise
  • Rigorously prioritize and manage Manufacturing Capital Expenditures
  • Drive talent optimization to align business and talent strategy to achieve desired business results; improving agricultural I.Q. across team and improving technology talent capabilities
  • Stay current with nutritional requirements of species (i.e. poultry, swine) ingredient quality and nutritional content, and familiarity with the feed formulation process
  • Develop and train team members to be leaders and/or owners of their respective area of responsibility
  • Monitor overall manufacturing operational results such as capacity, consumables, efficiencies and cost figures and take appropriate action to stay on track with budgets and targeting operating model
  • Partner with business leaders to maintain understanding of companies ERP systems as it correlates to production
  • Oversee sequence of operations and specify procedures for feed manufacturing exercising discernment in compromising between conflicting requirements, economic evaluation of methods, and operator effectiveness
  • Spearhead developments regarding specialty feeds and implement operational strategies
  • Provide leadership and mentor our team allowing development of strong leaders at all levels to ensure succession and capability for a more diverse workforce
  • Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement together with timely root cause analysis of non-conformances 
  • Plan, organize and recommend strategies in ensuring that the product is manufactured successfully, in accordance with all specifications
  • Report on operational performance and metrics
  • Lead change management and support continuous improvement initiatives in operations
  • Work closely with team to implement policies, procedures and systems and to follow through on implementation
  • Attend and participate in meetings, cascade essential information to team members, communicate key issues to leadership team
  • Travel to Mill locations when appropriate and on a regular basis
  • Partner with Human Resources team to ensure fair and consistent administration of all policies, work rules and processes
  • Instill core values in manufacturing team members, live the core values personally

Typical Background


  • Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Operations, or related sciences with extensive experience in facilities and manufacturing


  • Preferred – Lean Certification
  • Preferred – Six Sigma Green Belt Certification


Years and Type of Experience:

  • Minimum of 8-10 years related experience
  • 5-7 years of experience in Supply Chain, Operations, Order Management and/or Customer Service
  • Knowledge of Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) Regulations
  • Ability to understand and follow Food Safety Standards – FSMA and SQF as well as all applicable Federal and State regulations
  • Management experience; leading and overseeing a team
  • Familiarity with WEM system a plus
